Fatso was born on the idea of wanting to bring life to dark chocolate, it seemed like the anti-indulgence, it was too boring, serious, almost permissible. The women founded business wanted to create a flavour packed, chunky, cheeky, highly moreish dark chocolate bar that is as delicious as it is uncompromising in quality and ethics. Why We Chose This Supplier:
One of Fatso’s core values is sustainability, after the founder learned about the horrors and how deep problems ran in the cocoa farming industry and the production process of making chocolate.
Fatso exclusively source from Luker Chocolate, a family owned fair trade cooperative in Colombia. They are an award-winning cacao, purpose led chocolate grower and maker. Luker are on an SBTi-approved path to reach net zero by 2050, and have already cut carbon emissions in chocolate production by 22% in 2024. Their climate-positive approach includes using cleaner energy, reducing water use, cutting emissions and embracing circular practices. Most importantly, they invest in farmers, teaching sustainable growing methods that protect the land and support stronger communities for the long run.
Fatso partners with one of the most sustainability-driven packaging producers in the country, an expert team which delivers both style and substance. Their packs use FSC-certified materials and are printed with vegetable and even kelp inks. Moreover, their printer runs on renewable energy, uses power-efficient technology, and operates an alcohol-free press room supported by a water-filtration system that dramatically reduces waste.
They are equally committed to nurturing the environment, with recycling programs that cut excess, and even a wildflower meadow designed to support pollinators (which also produces excellent honey). Every part of their process is continually reviewed to reduce carbon impact and exceed international sustainability standards, so that every pack they create does better for the planet.
